this is kind of silly, but i think there should be an official irc channel on freenode.net as well. it seems like freenode is the defacto irc network for open source projects these days (and i dont think my irc client is able to use two servers at the same time =).

That's not a bad idea. I would be willing to join the IRC channel if we decide to go forward with this. Mind you, I would prefer using something like Jabber or Google talk, but IRC would work as well.
yes jabber is nice . We use Jabber too at our own jabber Server with ssl encryption.

Well, it seems an IRC channel is of no intrest to the Zabbix comunity. :(
After running the #zabbix channel on efnet for about 10 days I only saw 2 people dropping by. (myself not included :D )
Is this because you guys prefer freenode ? If so, let me know and I'll start there a #zabbix channel and close the one on efnet.
Keep me informed pls.

I've never tried using irc before, but I think I managed to connect. Seems like a good tool to have incase someone has a question they want answered quickly.

I can't speak for the other few people hanging around the channel, but my plan is to just stay connected during the work days. That way, if anyone has a question, I can do what I can to help.

Okay, I have registered the channel ##Zabbix, and someone registered #Zabbix around 3 weeks ago.
Alexei, please register yourself on the freenode server and I will change ownership of the ##Zabbix channel over to you. Also, if you want I can register the project in your name as well, that way you will have the ability to manage how the channels are used.
good choice. freenode is a good place..
