I, am planning to implement zabbix on our system. We have about 60 servers,
20 cisco switches and 75 network printers.95% of our servers are windows.
2000,2003. , about 5 percent linux servers.

I am having a problem with detection of interface cards on all win servers.
zabbix only detects the loopback interface, which doesnt help me at all.
I need to be able to see load on my interfaces and graph the traffic on these.
host.win32 doesnt even see any network cards. Host.snmp does but only the
loopback (ifDescr1). Is there something i can do to fix this. I know its probably
something stupid, but i need some help.

P.S. does the agentd for win servers support network detection. Because host.unix does, and it works for netloadin etc.

As far as I know you can't monitor the network traffic on a windows computer. There is no key for that defined in the Host.Win32 template.
Anyone has an idea how it can be done?

ZABBIX is able to monitor ANY metric available to Windows Performance Monitor including network and disk statistics. Monitoring of Windows network I/O was discussed several times here.

The metric name depends on network card name, that's why there is nothing in standard WIN32 template.

Please, be aware that standard templates do not necessarily contain everything supported by ZABBIX agents. Consult ZABBIX documentation.

It is VERY possible to monitor network traffic on Windows. Check this (http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69) thread.

Oops, sorry then. Maybe I should read more in the forum and in the documentation before I post a new message. :)

And you can install the snmp server on 2000 and xp, it's included in the same system and you dont need any special software.

For win98 there is a external program that can be used as a snmp server
