View Full Version : 1.1 alpha6 server won't start
Exact problem as in thread:
http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=328
alpha5 server ran just fine- now am trying to upgrade to alpha6 and it just won't run.
I also tried running as user zabbix to no avail.
BTW- this is moving me from nagios- great work!
Thanks for your report. I've been investigating this for the last few days. Unfortunatly it's not still quite clear what causes this.
I had the same problem when upgrading to 1.1alpha6 ... I tried revamping my database, ktrace/kdump (its a FreeBSD machine), gdb, etc. to figure out whats up. Turns out its the bug with simple checks in 1.1alpha6 being broken. This will cause the zabbix server to segfault. Use the web administration interface to disable any hosts which have simple checks turned on. Then start the zabbix server and it should work fine.

Azrael-
I had one host set with simple checks. Got rid of that and then was able to run
alpha 6.
Cheers!

Well I can't comment if disabling simple checks works, since I deleted Alpha 6 and put 1.0 stable up (Like the other poster, I am trying out Zabbix to see if we can replace Nagios).
None the less, I couldn't get Alpha 6 to start and I was having the exact same problems as posted in this thread - I did have a simple check added.
I did try the server.c recompile as mentioned in another thread for alpha5, but it seems it was already applied to alpha6.
Any idea when this pid problem should be resolved? I would love to get simple checks + alpha6 working.
