Cannot connect to the database

Hi Everyone. I am new to Zabbix and trying to install zabbix 7.4 with mysql 8 on single node.
Installation went fine and all services came up without any issues and I am able to connect to the internet using localhost and creds through CLI.
But, coming to webserver, it throws error saying cannot connect to the database. Can someone please help me to fix the issue

ich möchte euch ein kleines Open-Source-Projekt vorstellen, das ich für die Überwachung von Synology Active Backup mit Zabbix gebaut habe:

Synology Active Backup Zabbix Monitor

Das Projekt stellt ein DSM 7 Paket bereit, mit dem sich Active Backup for Business und Active Backup for Microsoft 365 direkt in Zabbix überwachen lassen.

Was wird überwacht?

Backup Jobs von Active Backup for Business
Backup Jobs von Active Backup for Microsoft 365
Job-Status wie OK, Warning, Failed, Running oder No Data
Letzte Laufzeit / letzter erfolgreicher Lauf
Backup-Alter
Übertragene Backup-Größe, soweit aus den Synology-Datenbanken verfügbar
Warnungen bei fehlenden Datenbanken oder wenn keine Werte mehr ankommen

Das Paket bringt eine DSM Desktop App mit, über die man die Konfiguration direkt im DSM vornehmen kann. Es muss also nicht per SSH irgendein Script auf der NAS eingerichtet werden.

Es gibt zwei Betriebsarten

API Pull = Zabbix fragt die Daten über eine token-geschützte API vom DSM Paket ab.
Sender Push = Das DSM Paket sendet die Werte aktiv an den Zabbix Server oder Proxy. Das ist besonders praktisch, wenn man keinen zusätzlichen API-Port auf der NAS nach außen öffnen möchte. TLS PSK wird unterstützt.

Overriding Legend Strings in Graph widgets to make them shorter?

I'm using Zabbix 7.0.22 to graph SNMP data from a Cisco SG200 26 port switch.

I'm only interested in the data throughput for some of the ports, so I used the graph widget, I added a data set for each port I want to have on the graph.

The host is Cisco SG-200-26. I use wildcard strings like Interface gi1(* Bits* in Item Patterns to match both sent and received bit/sec for a specific port.

The problem is the legend displays long strings like "Cisco-SG200-26: Interface gi5(Server Room E Shelf Switch): Bits received"
They take too much room, displaying the redundant part and truncating the relevant parts.
I'd like to override the legends and have a custom name like "gi5(Server Room E Shelf Switch): received"

I wasted several hours with AI trying numerous approaches, none of which worked.
Is there a human around here who knows how to do this?

Zabbix agent / agent2 on CentOS 9.7 - server cannot connect.

Hey there,
I have a working Zabbix server 7.0 LTS with some hosts, Windows and Linux, everything is going fine.
Today, I have just installed a new virtual machine with Linux CentOS 9.7 with Zabbix agent / agent2 (tried both) but i cannot connect from server.
They are both on same VLAN, server IP is 192.168.100.42 and client IP is 192.168.100.25.

When i m trying to netcat from server into client on port 10050 :

But it s working when i m trying others ports, like 80 and 443 :

Email notifications not working after sendgrid apikey rotation

We have Zabbix deployed in a Docker container and recently updated the SendGrid password. Since then, Zabbix email notifications have stopped working, even after updating the new password in the media type configuration. I tested email sending manually from inside the container, and emails are being received successfully. However, when testing through the Zabbix media type, it fails with the following error: "Timeout was reached: Connection timed out after 40002 milliseconds."
Any idea how can I resolve it.?

Using below command I am able to receive email when I am trying inside container.

Hi,

I am using an custom alert script that sends trigger messages to an external ticket system that opens tickets for zabbix alerts.
Upon opening, it returns an URL to the opened ticket, which is then added as an acknowledge message to the alert. However.... I would like for the link to be clickable, at the moment it is pure text.
Using HTML does not work, since it is not interpreted.
Any ideas on how to make the link clickable?

Как отключить получение данных о VMs в vmware collector на Zabbix прокси

Установлен Zabbix 7.0.26.
Есть ли возможность отключить в "vmware collector" сбор данных по виртуальным машинам. У меня в шаблонах LLD для VMs отключено, VMs не добавлялись и точно не мониторятся, но судя по логу с Zabbix прокси данные с vCentra для VMs продолжают собираться коллектором. Пример лога с прокси

Problem Widget - BGP Peer Not Established - ASN #

We have a template to look for when we lose BGP connection to devices and its working. We want to take it a step further though and only see specific ASN's instead of all of them.
In the Problems Page of the BGP Template we can hover over the "question mark" and it will show the ASN. When I build the Problem Widget, it does not show the ASN number. How do I get the Problem Widget to display the ASN number of the connection not established.

Zabbix proxy how to disable collect data about VMs in vmware collector

Zabbix version 7.0.26.
Is it possible to disable virtual machine data collection in the "VMware Collector"? I have LLD disabled for VMs in the templates, but in the proxy log, I see that the collector continues to collect data from vCentra for VMs.

Zabbix is struggling to collect data (crammed agent pollers don't fetch data)

Hi there,

Would somebody please shed some light on the issue I'm trying to understand and solve.
I've got quite a large deployment where just recently monitoring items seem not to have been getting data on time that results in huge data gaps.
Workload is spread among 3 Zabbix proxy servers.
Just after a fresh reboot of the entire environment there is a burst of work going on across those 3 Zabbix proxy servers and data is coming through.
However after some time the whole system starts to deteriorate and comes to almost a full halt and only occasional items manage to collect data.
Increasing the number of async agent pollers would not help (I increased it from 8 to 20) - they all get clogged up over time.

Interestingly server resources don't seem to be constraints because CPUs and RAM are underutilized and Zabbix proxy servers seem idle.

1. How to explain the values for awaiting state to be ~1000 and maxed out almost all the time? Why are they not picked up moved out to the queue?

2. Assuming they are problematic items and occupy the slots because they get close to the allotted timeout (Timeout=10 in my zabbix_proxy.conf but I also tried to bring it down to 3s) - so why are they not moved out to Unreachable pollers for later attempts?

3. How to check what holds back those 1000 items on a poller and prevents them from being processed?

NOTE: When I open one of the hosts and an item that is missing recent data (e.g. CPU) in GUI and push "Get value and test" button the return value appears instantaneously.

Zabbix Agent2 MSSQL login issue

I have several SQL Servers, all running the same version of MS SQL on the same operating system, with the same group policies applied to each one. I am using a domain user account to monitor each server with the username and password for the account configured as template level macros so they apply to all systems that use the template.

One server has an odd issue where it does not return any SQL Server data. Looking up latest data, it just tells me that the metrics are unknown. The mssql plugin is the same one used on the working servers and the config files all look for the plugin executable in the same location. I have confirmed in the agent's logs that the mssql plugin is present with all of the correct functions, however it never tries to log into the server. All of the working servers show the step of logging into the SQL Server with the provided account except for this one.

I have tried uninstalling Agent 2 from the server and reinstalling cleanly. Same with the plugin, including a clean config file for both with the correct information and paths. Antivirus is not blocking any Zabbix processes as the folder and subfolders for the Agent are excluded by rules. SQL Server logs do not show any failed logins for the account. I have also attempted to remove the server and database logins for the account and re-adding it with the necessary permissions.

The OS is otherwise stable, DISM and sfc have found no component store issues and no corrupted system files.

Zabbix Server and Agent 2 are both 7.0.26

Any possible ideas?

Zabbix – Are APIs mandatory to automate trigger dependencies?

Hello,

In a multi‑site Zabbix environment, I am setting up trigger dependencies to reduce alert noise (network → hypervisor → VM).

My question is simple:
Is the Zabbix API mandatory to automate the creation of these dependencies when new hosts are added,
or are there native mechanisms (templates, auto‑registration, built‑in rules) that allow this without using the API?

The goal is to avoid any manual configuration at scale.

Problem generating reports

installed the reporting module on my Zabbix 7.4 server but I am getting the error message “Cannot accept incoming connection for peer: 192.168.158.14”

To install the reporting module on my Oracle Linux server I followed this procedure:

dnf install zabbix-web-service -y
cd /tmp
wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/g...ent_x86_64.rpm
dnf localinstall google-chrome-stable_current_x86_64.rpm -y

nano /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf
WebServiceURL=http://localhost:10053/report
StartReportWriters=3

systemctl restart zabbix-server.service
systemctl enable zabbix-web-service.service --now

In the Frontend URL field, enter the full URL used to access Zabbix (e.g., http://your-server-ip/zabbix).
