This has been suggested before and I believe it is a good idea.

If I recall correctly, alexei agreed but it's proably been eclipsed by bugs and other high priority items.

anyway, all the solaris9 packages should do just fine on sol10.

I'd change the cc variable to = "gcc" and try rebuilding, sun's compiler...

looks like you're probably missing the mysql-dev packages. not sure how they are named on unbuntu.
while you're at it you probably want to ensure you have snmp-dev as well or you'll bomb out there...

although you are using a lot of memory for php, while I did bump mine.. I didn't need to do so until I made some really large maps for the overhead...
