The list of templates is available in this page, simply scroll down. For additional supported items to monitor navigate the left hand menu to Templates or HowTo.
The templates can be created and loaded into Zabbix using standard Import/Export functionality built-in since Zabbix 1.3.x (pre 1.4). A template may contain information about:
Template should strive to be both unspecific and having wide coverage of metrics, supported by the os, service or device in question. On the other hand, logically separated parts should be split in separate templates - for example, throwing in MySQL monitoring in Linux template is undesirable, as not everybody will be running it. Same goes for most other services like NTP, Bind etc.
Item intervals should be set to relatively large values - it's better to have new user reduce them than start with ridiculously low intervals.
Each template should be uploaded as an XML file and added to the appropriate table. If you want to write detailed monitoring description that would reference this template, place it in the howto section, then link back to the template.
If you want to describe the template only, place it as a subpage in Templates section and name it as the template itself, without the xml extension.
Additional data that could be added to template tables, open for discussion:
Also it might be worth adding vendor column to the tables to make some of them easier to use.
