Hello,

I've discovered Zabbix a few weeks ago and tested it with other monitoring solutions to find a good one...
I have to say I completly love Zabbix ! This soft is the best I have found in the world of free softs. So thanks and thanks again for the job you did and you'll do.

So... i've read on the site the new version of Zabbix, 1.8, will release today... I'm waiting for the new version to install it at home, to monitor my network, 10 or 15 small servers, a few website, some routers...

Is it possible to know if Zabbix is ready to be released (in a few days) or if I should better install 1.6 now ?

I'm really impatient to see the new one.

Thanks again !

:)

Go for 1.6.x. Zabbix 1.8 won't be released in May, most probably it will be postponed to October.

The page will be updated shortly.

Don't worry, it happens around these parts. ;-)

OK, I think I won't comit suicide right now... ;) :D

I'll install the current version during this week at home. I can't wait October to have a running solution. I'll upgrade in October.

I guess I would be fair in assuming 1.8 wasn't released in October ;)

Seems a bit strange that the "next.php" page was updated for the dev releases of Zabbix today, but no one corrected (or removed) the line saying 1.8 would be released October 2009!

I'm looking to start development towards a "2.0" of our monitoring solution, which will rely quite heavily on the API scheduled for release in 1.8. At the moment dev work will be done based on latest 1.7 release, awaiting 1.8 for deployment but it would be useful if I could get even a vague feel from you on how 1.8 is progressing so development time can be balanced appropriately. Is it liable to be soon (1-3 months) or something a little bit longer on the roadmap (3+)?

if you present it like that, i'll take the risk and guess that "soon" :)
