View Full Version : Initail Value of "status" item.
What is the rational for having the value of this item start at "unknown"?
The "status" key of the agent is a derived value based on the success or failure of obtaining data from other monitored items. Therefore, if Zabbix is successfully getting data from host, the value of the "status" item should be known, not unknown.
Does this make sense? Or am I crazy?

Greetings,
Agree, unfortunately, from what I can tell, it only get's calcuated after a failure has occured.
i agree too. i had a similar posting about a year ago on sf forum and woul like to see he status from start of adding the item/trigger. for me the whole SLA section makes no sence and i aint use it until it is usabel but there are other erros we have to fix first. :/
- host items and linking must work
- reports about broken active checks
- building/make issues
- status UNKNOWN is my personal prio list and time is running.
Does the developer of Zabbix read this? Would definitely like to hear feedback on this issue. I love Zabbix... it is terrific. But.. this is an annoying issue.
Question for all users of Zabbix: What do you use to trigger an email when a host goes down? I assume Pings. Correct?

I'm confused by what you guys are asking about. Are you saying that when you first add an item to a host it's initial status is 'Unknown' and you'd rather it say something else?
