Force Check of an Item

After playing around with some triggers as mentioned in this thread I was wondering if you could impliment a "check now" button or somthing for items. This would be usefull for fairly static items that are set to only update every couple of hours or days.

This feature request is more than 6 years old... Just ran across a need for this. I had to set my update interval for the item low (like 30 seconds), wait for it to update, then set it back. Would be nice if there was a way to mass force a check (maybe selecting item checkbox and then a drop down menu item to update it) and/or a button on the Latest data page for the item.

Has there been and a feature request for this?
