im getting this message on my server log
Get value from agent failed. Error: ZBX_TCP_READ() failed [Interrupted system call]

the agentd doesnt report status and the client machine is loaded with agentd processes

server and agentd are 1.4

server is a RHEL ES 4
agentd is a centos 4.0

does anyone has this same problem??

I had absolutely the same problem with the agent running on my OpenWrt router and my Gentoo system, where I test 1.4 before I'm going to re-test it in our company (we gave up with 1.3 series)

The problem was that I had set StartAgents=1 in zabbix_agentd.conf. Setting it to 3 and restarting the agents solved it.

And iirc polling by DNS name also did not work correctly.

i have 5 StartAgents, and tried polling fom dns and ip. i even update to centos 4.5 but the same error apears in my server logs.

I compiled the server and agent today on RHEL4up4 and installed the agents on 6 RHEL4 machines. No problems at all.

Did you bind the agents to a certain IP address?

Maybe just post your config(s).

I think this will help the Zabbix devs a bit. So that can at least go to a single place and ask for more debug info until this problem is solved...

Same error occured in my first Zabbix-installation last month. I had reduced the StartAgents to 2 cause I thougth, that 2 Agents will be enough. But that's not right, my Debian Lenny with Zabbix 1.6.1 needed 5 Agents.

I've had the same problem.
The solution was to set the correct dns name in the config file of the client (it wasn't the good one).

Server=<DNS name of the server>

And it solved the problem... I don't know if it can help for the future...

Raising timeout in zabbix_server.conf helped me solve this issue.

i have problems on 2 windows servers using win32 zabbix agents.

CPU utilisation Graphs goes broken and finally dies few minutes after starting zabbix agent.

Is there a permanent fix for this.

zabbix server version is 1.8.1
