web monitoring from zabbix proxy

i'm trying to set up web monitoring, but all data is monitored through the zabbix server.

is it possible to use web monitoring from a zabbix proxy (i.e. monitor a local ip address on the other end of the proxy)

From what I've heard, Web Monitoring via Proxy will not happen until version 1.8 comes out in October.
