How to configure items for a zabbix_proxy

Hi,
I want to begin to use a zabbix_proxy for some hosts which were on the zabbix_server side.
I don't understand how to configure items using a zabbix_proxy
On the server side I declare a host using proxy
On the proxy I declare the host

1-But what do I need to do for items? Do I install them on both server and proxy? Or just on 1 side(Server? Proxy?)
2-I have templates on the server for some hosts. Can I use these templates on the proxy?

you assign items to the host just like before. only change needed is to set that host to be monitored by the proxy in the frontend (well, and also changing 'server' parameter in agents if using active items).

you can continue to use templates to manage items for those hosts as well.
