ZABBIX Crash when Pollers over 40

Number of pre-forked instances of pollers
# Default value is 5
# This parameter must be between 0 and 255
StartPollers=40

Does anyone tried to set poller or trapper over then 40? I did, and got ZABBIX server crash. Any similar experience are most welcome to share.

I think this happens because every poller starts a dedicated db connection. If you leave the standard mysql max connections configuration untouched this fails (see your log):

"84809:20081223:165438 [Z3001] Connection to database 'ZABBIX' failed: [1040] Too many connections"

You can watch the connections via Mysql Admin Console.

I would call it feature, not a crash. Review configuration of MySQL as suggested.
