    Windows NT Agent Failure?

After running the Zabbix agent on our PDC and BDC (as well as other NT 4.0 servers), we started experiencing issues with the domain logon servers not being available. The agent was taken from the zabbix-1.1alpha12.tar.gz archive.

All of our other servers appear to be operational.

Are the two ports 10050 and 10051 reserved under Windows NT?
Is there a later, more stable version of the agent?
Are active checks required for Windows NT servers?

One item of note was that to install the Zabbix agent, the PDH.DLL file needed to be installed. Is this normal? If so, does someone have a reliable location to download from?

That is strange. I have a deployment on windows nt4 sp6 that works as expected. Anything noteable like cpu load, memory etc. that points to the zabbix agent?

What kind of servers? Windows, Linux?

Usally Windows NT does not use these ports.

There is a later version that ships with beta3. However i do not know wether that version works with zabbix-1.1alpha12. Maybe you give it a try or someone else can comment on this.

They are not. However it depends on you requirement.

Thanks for the reply Wolfgang. Much like I suspected, there must be something particular to the PDC and BDC - independent of Zabbix. Every other server has worked correctly.

      Yes. Windows NT/2K/2003, Linux Redhat/Fedora, Solaris 8/9.

That was my understanding as well - but I had to ask.

Alexei - is the beta4 agent backwards-compatible with the alpha12 server?

I was not able to get the zabbix agent installed on NT 4.0. I get error saying zabbix_agentd.exe is not a valid Windows NT Application.

        Posted the problem here http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthre...&highlight=4.0

        Could you please provide directions.

        Thanks
        Vijay

Zabbix Windows Agent Version 1.4.4 works well on NT 4.0.
Not able to install 1.8.3 agent on NT 4.0.
