    triggers fire up simultaneously

    Hello everyone

    My triggers fire up simultaneously does anybody knows what is going on?
    Using zabbix 1.8.4
    Zabbix trapper item; numeric (unsigned) decimal;
    Trigger should fire up in case of, if (item1 – item2)>9
    Code:
    ({MyHOST:item1.last(0)}-{MyHOST:item2.last(0)})>9
    Basically what it does it fires up and in a couple of seconds sends me recovery message. In worst case, it sends me recovery message when zabbix receives new data from trapper.
    Mysterious part of story is that triggers doesn’t fire up every time zabbix receives date; in other words, if I receives data 10 times during a hour, trigger might or might not fire up once or twice a day

    Thanks for suggestions in advance

    your 2 items are not retrieved at the same time, as zabbix queries item by item .

    so maybe you get this sequence , (with update interval 6minutes)

    t item1 = 100
    t+3m item2 = 105 => i1-i2 =5 => no problem
    t+6m item1 = 120 => i1-i2 = 15 => PROBLEM ! trigger fires
    t+9m item2 = 125 => i1-i2 = 5 => problem solved
    ...

    Even though the real values are evolving in sync, zabbix item1 and item2 are not retrived in sync ...

    You can try looking at the last 500 values for your items to check if this is the case...

    And if this is the case, what I can think of is :
    • create an item that has the difference rather than letting zabbix do it's 'async' math
    • send both values at the same time with a script and zabbix_send
    • decrease your update interval to reduce the risk of rapidly evolving values (but you risk hammering your servers , and depending on the speed of evolution, it may not even be enouth )
