trigger for template: host is online/offline

I wanted to set up the Trigger " {hostname:status.last(0)}=2 " in a template, but it didn't work. Maybe because it's a "special parameter " ?

How can i set up a trigger for my whole host group to check which hosts are up / down?

and what did you setup? How did you configure the different pieces?

My template is called "standard", so I tried the trigger expression ' {standard:status.last(0)}=2 ' as written in the Docs (see link in 1st Post).

The error i get is the same as described by edeus in his thread:

[ERROR:Cannot add trigger]

No such host (adelaide.host.com) or monitored parameter (status)

As expected, this error comes up when creating the trigger for a single host (in my case "localhost"), too.

Does the host have the agent installed?

‘status’ is special parameter which is calculated if and only if corresponding host has at least one parameter for monitoring.

But of course i monitor some items @ localhost...
