SNMP GET of ifInOctets / ifOutOctets - Traffic of network interfaces

Hello,

we want to find out the traffic of network interfaces
and so we make an SNMP GET request on ifInOctets / ifOutOctets.
But we think, the values we receive are to big.
(e.g.: 2642089682, 1257174966, ...)

Does anybody know, how we have to handle this?

How can we calculate Kbit/s and Mbit/s out of this values?
