FR: consistent search/display criterias (maybe page setting profiles?)
hi all,
i would like to see consistency in display and search criteria on configuration and monitoring pages of the front end.
there are a lots of nice ideas within the interface but unfortunately they are not consistent within all of the pages.
e.g. (Show disabled items/triggers) but it would be nice to see it on hosts, alarms ... anywhere you may have a huge list to display and are able (possibly with good reasons) to disable them.
another example:
Events screen gives (Host Group/Host) as limiters for better displaying the amount of possible entries. so how about doing same on alarms or even better combine both with Latest Data (Display item where description like)
and while we just took all your existing ideas and used them consequent on the gui, how about giving opportunity to save page views?
e.g. you visit latest data page and must select host group first to get an overview about what you are interested in, then you select data. if you need to do this several time a day you would bookmark this selection as you're entrypoint to latest data screen. next time you visit a page zabbix could check "pageviews" table for a known save point and if exists jumps to this selection instead using default page start.
another benefit would be the linkage from external urls in screens section(maybe you need to use other tools like mrtg because some missing functionality from zbx but want an over all overview) or in host section as alternative to profiles(e.g. you have a intra/wiki page for each host or hostgroup or want to link against a script fetching data from another application(inventory often done by other ppl like the networking guys)
finally i see easily to implement feature potentials in screens section. it would be great if zabbix could resize his own maps to fit screen column. (you could limit it by suggesting some common aspect ratios.) to be honest (referring to a zabbix screenshot on web)which real life map fit on a 500x300 screen window between graphes and data windows
so maybe some of my input could be implemented by core team.. i can live with my crutches (bookmarks, own monitoring display frameset and more)
