    graph names

Is there a wildcard, macro, or some syntax I can use to autodefine a name for a graph.

    example

I have a graph which shows the in and out traffic on a particular cisco 4500 switch interface. I want what I either grab from the snmp values ifName or ifDescr to put in the graph name. Or whatever the name is of a particular item.

    Is this possible currently?

The name is derived from the item key. I have a patch I need to submit which allows for the creation of custom graph titles. Unfortunately in the last few days it slipped on priority. I'll try and get it out there for everyone shortly.

      Ok

      I'm a little confused. Don't worry happens alot. ;-)

When I create a custom graph I give it a name. That name shows up on the top of the graph which what I want.

If I name a graph "Bandwidth Data Port 1" It shows up as

      "Hostname: Bandwidth Data Port 1"

I want to be able use a something like

      "Bandwidth on $item.ifname"

So I can do it 100 times in an xml file and be done with it.

Is this what you are talking about? If that's it great!!

      I really appreciate your response...

Very similar, but not quite. I should be posting the patch in a few minutes. It's not for the faint of heart, but we have found it to be very useful at our client site.

I also find, that ability to define graph names using ifName or ifDescr grabbed from SNMP makes templating of network interfaces so much easier.

Alexei, would it be possible to implement that kind of functionality in future release of Zabbix?
