    Triggers, Actions, and when they fire?

    With the help the trikke, I have implemented basic event log monitoring. Unfortunately, I am having an issue where a trigger won't fire more than once from a given host if the associated event log error occurs again.

    I am also seeing an issue where the trigger will fire if it is associated with a different host (the triggers are defined in a template), but no action is fired.

    I am guessing this is because the previous trigger fire is still showing TRUE, but there doesn't seem to be a way to reset it... or am I mis-understanding how these configurations work?

    Can you post your action definitions? I've got a hunch the trigger name has the specific hostname in it.

      Here is a snip of the XML Export for the trigger (associated with a template)

      <trigger>
      <description>Event Application Error 2</description>
      <expression>{{HOSTNAME}:eventlog[Application,Warning].logseverity(4)}=4</expression>
      <priority>4</priority>
      </trigger>

      And here is a screen shot of the web interface config for the action:

          The only thing I can think of is that when creating the action and selecting the trigger, that an individual host was selected, and not the template. Other than that, it's a bit beyond my ability to help.

            I recreated the actions, ensuring the triggers were selected from the templates and still no go. Frustrating...

              I have this same problem. If I select the Template trigger in the Action page, it wont fire off.
              If I made an action for the host, using the hosts trigger, it Would go off.
              But, i can't make an action for 150 hosts.
              So, I did a ghetto thing, and set an action to go off based on trigger description.
              Had to rename my triggers, but at least emails are going out.

                Try adding a host group in the condition of the action?
