    Zabbix Server Port to Windows

    Hi,

I would like to use Zabbix as the system monitoring tool for a new project I will be working on. I have to use Windows servers, so I was wondering what is involved in porting Zabbix server-side software to Windows.

My understanding is most of the code is PHP based, so this will obviously not be an issue. For other software I could use cygwin tools to help with porting.

    Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!

    Hi Mahmut,

ZABBIX v1.1 server processes will probably use pthreads. It's quite significant modification that will change porting process significantly.

So, I wouldn't recommend to spend your time on porting 1.0. Wait for 1.1.

Thanks for the quick response Alexei!

I will need to finish this section of the project within 3 months or so. Are you planning to release 1.1 before this time? Also how big a task do you think this will be?

      Thanks a lot
      Mahmut

It is quite easy to port ZABBIX server processes to Cygwin environment. I do not expect major problems. More difficult task could be porting to native W32.

Anyway, I hope to release ZABBIX 1.1 in October-November.
