    Snmp community: template or macro?

    Hi,
i read in form that if devices have community different from public you can change making a full clone of the used template, make a mass unpdate on snmp community field and apply the new custom template to your devices and is ok.

    but....

my customer have a different community each.. it's not possible to use {SNMP_COMMUNITY} Macro to define host_by_host or per device group?

    thanks

Why not doing it this way:

Store all common items in a template 'Template SNMP'.
The attribute 'SNMP community' is set to the user macro '{$SNMP_COMMUNITY}' in all these items.
Add a user macro {$SNMP_COMMUNITY} = public to the 'Template SNMP'

Then create one template per customer (e.g. 'Template SNMP - ACME') and link it to the common template 'Template SNMP'.
Add a user macro '{$SNMP_COMMUNITY}' to the customer template as well. But this time with the individual community string.

Take a look at User macros and Templates.
