Yes (it's better like this ... ), it's described in the manuel, but it's recommended to upgrade the agents to use the new items and improvments of the version 2.0 of Zabbix server.

I have Zabbix SERVER 1.8.x
and I install new Windows Server <- so I install on this machine zabbix AGENT 2.0 - Is this working properly with my old Zabbix SERVER 1.8.x ?
