If you are running Zabbix and trying to monitor a MySQL server -especially a more recent MySQL 5.1 server - run - don't walk - over to here: http://palominodb.com/blog/2010/12/1...emplates-mysql and try out the new template contributed by Palomino. The code is hosted on google and is a zabbix port of the long used template for Cacti that was originally created by Baron Schwartz. I have used the Cacti template for quite some time and it is a stellar template.
I have been setting up Zabbix for some production MySQL servers recently and after having a nice easy rollout of the basic monitoring attempted to use Mike Crowe's template. I never got it to work. He states it was not tested with MySQL 5.1 and it hasn't been updated for a long time. Not sure what the problem was, but I banged my head on it for several days. Well, on Monday afternoon I saw the announcement of the new template. Less than 48 hours later it was up and running on all the servers. It would have been faster but we had a major issue at work that had to be resolved along the way.
Even though its brand new it is based on a template for Cacti that has been around for a while. The installation is fairly straightforward if a bit raw. The source code is available on "mercury" which I am not familiar with but proved to be a straightforward task to learn how to use enough to get the code.
Hope that helps someone.
