    My Test

    Hi Forum

I heard the first time about zabbix 3 weeks ago. I am not an expert. But I show you here what I did until now.

The zabbix server runs in our office LAN on Fedora Core 3. I installed 1.1alpha2 and upgraded to zabbix-1.1alpha4 today. I had no problems to upgrade. As a test I monitor only 4 computers:

    the zabbix server itself,
a windows 2000 server in our office LAN,
my XP workstation in office LAN,
my private Fedora Core 3 router/firewall at home.

My home router is also a zabbix server. That means, agentd is configured to allow access from 2 servers; the zabbix server in the office and my router where agentd is running. This private computer monitor my Windows XP game desktop PC and my notebook with dual boot win XP and SuSE Linux.

In the office, agentd and suckerd (err, zabbix_server) are on alpha4. I dont know if ZabbixW32.exe did change a lot from alpha2 to 4, but on the w2k server is still the agent from alpha2 running. Also my home computer(s) are all still on alpha2.

2 little problems I still have: Somehow the server doesn't send out trigger emails. And I dont have the graphics for the maps. But like I said, I am still quite new to zabbix.

I hope my boss will allow me next week to install zabbix on the "really important" servers. Hmmm... installing an alpha software on "real" computers? Should I worry? What do you think?
Working...
