I probably do it wrong...
So far Zabbix has been useful to me on some advanced troubleshooting case to diagnose bottleneck, flapping ethernet port and so on.
I usually manually add switch / router, add proper template. Plot uplink on a map... easy peasy... In some case I have set snmp discovery, probe some string and then configured action base on those string to add dlink or unifi template to host.
Now I am looking to deploy Zabbix at a MSP level, hundreds of customer in multi-tenant config, active proxy.
Some customer have...
hp, aruba, cisco, meraki, dlink switchs...
cisco, meraki, sophos, sonicwall, mikrotik, watchguard routers...
vmware, xen, hyper-v hypervisor...
There is "other" tool out there that can scan a subnet and tell you that device is a HP switch, that is a vmware server. default creds not working, please provide creds... then it automagically prob the items.
Is there something I don't get or I really have to manually configure multiple scan, thinker action base on carefully crafted AND / OR condition looking for strings to identify the device and apply correct template ? That look a daunting task !!!
Is this "the way" or I am totally wrong ? Is there something around to take care of that part ?
