Monitoring Totals (ie. Bandwidth per Day, et al.)

I am looking into calculating total's per time period for various services (mainly revolving around data flow) and cannot find provision for this in the current Zabbix items/database structure.
Is it possible to setup total based statistics (alongside current graphs/trends)?
I.e. Currently we have bandwidth usage, but the history and trends values are based around bps (delta) - Is there any way to generate a total from this information?
The only way I can see it possibly working is by a static/checkpoint value and simple comparison of this value. It could be very simple to implement but would be an excellent supplement for SLA's and general auditing.
Can someone shine some light on the subject (if this topic has been discussed previously - perhaps under a different name)
