    Appliance Postfix name service error

    RESOLVED - its resolv.conf - not resolve.conf. duh.
    Appropriate entries fix the problem.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have 1.8.2 appliance vmdk running under Virtualbox on xp.

I can't get postfix to send email to my gmail account. (In the UK it's googlemail, but I've tried both).

If I try to send an email from the command line as root with 'sendmail -v [email protected]' my /var/mail/root has entries like:

Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; delivery temporarily suspended: Host or domain name
not found. Name service error for name=gmail.com type=MX: Host not
    found, try again
This error occurs for all other valid email addresses I've tried.

The appliance did not have a /etc/resolve.conf file, but adding one with my ISP's DNS server addresses and restarting did not help. I've now removed it.

    I've turned off windows firewall
    I've done 'SuSEfirewall stop'

I'm new to postfix, SuSE and Zabbix, can anyone point me at other things to check?

    Thanks
