icmpping set for once every 300 seconds, but seems to run once a minute

I have icmpping setup on all our servers. We use an interval of 300 seconds.
Last night I had a failure at 3:05 AM, and one minute later it was OK (I get emails).

Why did it restore so quickly when it only checks every 300 seconds?
