Difference between http_perf & ldap_perf

I am a newbee in unix.
Right nw I am using zabbix 1.8.5 on fc11.
Can anyone explain me diff bw http_perf & ldap_perf?
How the simple check works? Its just same as pinging or somthing else, If it is same as pinging server then y there is so many catagories?
