Was thinking the other night on the cheapest way to do SMS alerts. Wondered if the following was A: Doable and B: a good idea.
SMS Gateway's tend to be more expensive than contracts with unlimited SMS and it would be fixed charged regardless of the amount of SMS sent.
The zabbix server would be installed on a virtual server. (for example in Germany)
I would have a cheap phone connected to a pc/server in the UK just for SMS.
Would it be possible to forward the SMS requests from the zabbix server to the pc/server in the UK? Perhaps using some gateway software on the pc/server in the UK?
Does this sound like a daft idea?
