No Data for Item, Graph Average

I have an item which may return a value of 0 for a specific time period, indicating that no work was performed. When graphing this item, the 0's bring down overall average. I would like the 0's to be ignored so I can assess how that item is performing only while working.

Is it possible to use a NULL numeric value with Zabbix? Is there a better way accomplish this?
