Hello,
It has been really hard for me to find some comprehensive information about how IPMI can be setup in Zabbix.
The issue I have is that, although I can successfully use the ipmitool from the prompt to get whatever sensor data I want, I still cannot get how to configure the command line parameters in Zabbix, like the very basic ones: username and password! I wonder, how Zabbix could ever know which credentials to use? Let alone which interface to target, etc, etc.
From what I see, Zabbix uses OpenIPMI, rather than ipmitool under the hood, so succeeding with ipmitool means actually nothing. Thereis no further information about how one can setup a connection over this OpenIPMI library with the desired parameters. It is funny that older Zabbix versions allowed the setup of username/password from the GUI. Now this capability is not there. What changed since then?
I could as well workaround this by using an external command with good-old ipmitool, but I wish I could use the (supposedly) out-of-the-box features of Zabbix, if possible.
So, to keep it short: Is there some step-by-step explanation of how can IPMI connection parameters get configured in Zabbix?
