Hi,
I've been trying for weeks now to get ntp monitoring in Zabbix. Here is what I have done:
1. built a server (it works)
2. built a Linux node to monitor
3. Configured node in Server so Server sees it and monitors it.
4. Linked some basic templates to the Linux node (OS_Linux, Template_app_http, template_app_ntp)
5. Now all I need to do is this and it's VERY simple. When I stop the ntp service I want an alert/message/something to show up in the Zabbix server GUI.
When I stop web services it tells me that HTTP is no longer running. When I stop ntp I get nothing. Does someone have a very basic step-by-step example on how to monitor processes and have an alert show up when they are down?
PLEASE, no one-liners like "you need to check for xyz"....I won't know what you mean. I have scoured the Zabbix docs and they are VERY short on practical examples for everything.
So if someone has got something like this working and has the patience to go through it in simple, well explained steps I would greatly appreciate it.
