Hi all
Complete and utter newbie to Zabbix so please bare with me.
I've using Dr Google for weeks now and slow but surely getting to the point were things kinda work.
I work for an MSP and we are looking to replace N-Able. We are currently monitoring around 1500 devices across the country, these devices are mainly Windows desktops and Servers but we would like to expand this to networking equipment as well and feel that N-Able is just too system intense.
At this stage we are still very much in a testing phase but need to provide some really solid stats to my bosses to convince them to make the switch to Zabbix, so I need a lot of guidance.
I've gotten to the point where I've setup and configured a Zabbix Server (4.0) in our data center, firewall ports have been configured.
We've chosen one of clients as a test subject and installed a Zabbix Proxy (4.0) on site. This client is of course at a completely different geographical location.
After a lot swearing and tears I finally managed to get the Server and Proxy to communicate.
At the client site we have Hyper-V servers, Unifi switches, APs and a TZ600 SonicWall which we want to monitor. We've taken one Windows 2012 R2 server to test and installed and configured the agent but there's no communication from the agent to the proxy and this is where we're stuck now.
To my understanding the agent needs to point to the onsite Proxy which then communicates with our Server at our DC.
What am I missing? I'm sure it's something simple but not having much luck with online material. Furthermore, what would be the recommended way to the onsite networking equipment?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
