Hello, I'm trying to find a workaround for some maps I'm creating.
The idea is to have a map with a background image of a big switch (core switch), and start placing icons on top of the interfaces ports to show a green check icon if interface is up/ok and a red cross icon if interface goes down or any of the selected triggers happen.
I'm attaching 2 pictures. One if the desired map I want to create (of course not exactly as that one is from an HPE management platform). The other one is what I've done in Zabbix.
Now everything looks great but i've come to this problem. When tested with 2 interfaces, D4 which is UP and workind and D5 that is down (nothing connected), I see that the downed one still shows in green and values for triggers are OK. I believe it is related to the fact that when the template runs the interface discovery, the interface was already down, therefore the trigger never changed state thus its value is OK making the default icon to show instead of the problem icon.
The first thing that came through my mind was that to have a guy plugin a laptop on every empty port for some time until the trigger state changes and then unplug. This will make the icon to actually get into problem state and become RED. But it would be crazy to do this on every switch of every customer.
Is there any workaround that might help?
Thank you!!
