I am exploring using Zabbix for graphing traffic by interface for my network devices. I have gotten it to work in most cases, but there is one important case where I cannot get it to work.
The company that I work for uses Adtran's TA5000 chassis for providing service to most of its customers. These devices have SNMP interface tables with over 60,000 rows*. The interface auto-discovery process times out. Even if it didn't timeout, I don't think that I would want it to create all of those items, applications, and graphs.
Is there a way to make this more targeted? Or an easy way to make such a graph for just certain interfaces?
*Even a chassis with only a handful of customers will be like this. 60,000 rows, with all but a handful showing no interface description, traffic, or other information.
