lastchange of trigger = clock of latest event?

Hi,
I would like to know the exact meaning of the lastchange field of triggers.
I am aware that it is "the last time the trigger changed its state"

However, does the lastchange field of a trigger always equal the "clock" field of the latest event? Or is it derived elsewhere?
