Good afternoon,
I want to start saying that is a pleasure to become part of the Zabbix community. I just deployed this tool in my virtualized production environment, on the recommendation of a IT systems partner. This SNMP monitoring tool looks very good!
I have implemented Zabbix 6.0.1 on an Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Done the initial configuration I have added all the switching of our enterprise (with HP Enterprise Switch SNMP template). Once this is done, as a first monitoring I have configured a dashboard with the bit rate of the link ports for each of the switches. As a next step, I'm setting up notifications. I have correctly configured mailing, and even several triggers as a test.
What interests me in particular, is that when a switch falls I receive an email notifying it. Using the triggers Unavailable by ICMP ping and No SNMP data collection (this is linked to the first), I’m getting these notifications. With a test switch turned off from yesterday at 18.30 until 9.00 in the morning, I received two messages in my email:
Problem: Unavailable by ICMP ping
Problem started at 18:27:27 on 2022.03.28
Problem name: Unavailable by ICMP ping
Host: HP-SWITCH-608
Severity: High
Operational data: Down (0)
Original problem ID: 275777
Problem: No SNMP data collection
Problem started at 09:06:39 on 2022.03.29
Problem name: No SNMP data collection
Host: HP-SWITCH-608
Severity: Warning
Operational data: Current state: not available (0)
Original problem ID: 285895
I would like to configure the Unavailable by ICMP ping trigger, so that it sends me a message every hour while the Switch is down.
By the way, on the host I have configured the following macro: {$ICMP_LOSS_WARN} value = 1.
I have seen some tutorial to mount a ping monitor, but they were for older versions of Zabbix and I have not been able to follow them nor have I been able to extrapolate them to my version. I also don't know if this would be the solution...
Can you assist me?
Thank you!
