    Verizon CDMA Modem (Cell Phone)

Not that I am looking to spend a lot of money on this project right now, but in the future (if this takes off and the office aggrees that its worth pooring some cash into) I am thinking of setting up sms with a Verizon Cell Phone attached via USB and using it as a modem.

My thinking is, if the power goes out, no internet, no email, all i have is a zabbix box on a ups, how do I send myself a msg ... well the only way i know how is to have a cell phone setup as a modem.

So, after all that, has anyone got a verizon cell to work with ubuntu dapper drake and zabbix? Our office is about to purchase around 30 pda phones for the doctors and i figure i might as well see if i can get a cheapo cell phone (or just use one of the xpensive pda phones) and see if i can setup sms msging through it.

just thought i would ask for a heads up on an HCL for the phones.

    TIA guys.
