This is one of those "I'll probably google myself into an answer in an hour or three" issues but I figured I ask anyway.
I run a few highly firewalled environments, and we block all outbound DNS queries.
I am seeing DNS traffic to *.root-servers.net addresses and am wondering why? The Zabbix server OS does not have DNS configured, I'm not using DHCP or providing DNS config or hints in any way.
Linux repo traffic? Zabbix itself? (I have no DNS services being monitored BY zabbix, of course, making me wonder if anything is hardcoded somehow?)
