vmware templates returns no data for the guest NIC transfer rate

Hope this is the correct place to ask...

Using the VMware monitoring and integration with Zabbix Works great. Discovers all... but the items monitoring NIC rate reports no data:

vmware.vm.net.if.in[{$VMWARE.URL},{HOST.HOST},4003,bps]

I have no clue where to look for the culprit - any hint?
