Items and triggers of other hosts on "pseudo" hosts

Version used: Zabbix 6.0.12
We have a number of different existing triggers and items on existing hosts that we would like to duplicate to virtual pseudo hosts.
Whilst trying to do so by simply creating a new trigger on these virtual hosts and copying the configuration, we encountered that, instead of the pseudo host, the trigger is created on the host of the first item specified in the problem expression, i.e., on the original existing host.
Is this expected behavior? What would be a way to go around this? Would creating a dummy item on the pseudo host and putting it into the copy of the trigger fix this?
