Managing host groups. Any ideas ?

I need your opinions.
Most of our customers are using Zabbix for big and wide spreaded systems. Also, most of them have many branches, many IT teams and very large portfolio of applications.
As you can guess, this kind of system structure needs grouping. But as you know, multiple groups means too much lines of groups at dashboard and drop down menus. And we don’t have a good nesting groups solution in Zabbix.
Almost everybody complains about the situation and we can’t offer them a satisfying solution about this.
So, how you guys are managing this problem ? I would like to hear your ideas.

PS: Filtering at dashboard is not a preferred solution for us.
