Graph showing current values and values from a previous period

Hello. I am trying to think of a way to have a graph showing both the current values for an item and the values for a specified period of time in the past. I know you can jump back in time using the graph, but I want to be able to see both sets of data at once. Perhaps there is a way to setup an item that stores previous values?
