I've got zabbix agent daemon running on our servers, version 1.4.2 and I am running it as the user "zabbix". When I modify the groups on the user zabbix, and restart the zabbix agent, I find that the daemon runs as the zabbix user, but with the root user's groups. When the zabbix agent is started from the init scripts, at system boot, it also changes to the zabbix user, but has no groups.
This is a little bit of a pain as I want to setup some groups so that the zabbix user is able to access things like the serial port.
Are other people able to run the zabbix agent as users with groups, or is it just me?
