    Scheduling host/item downtime

    Hello,

I've been using Nagios for a while and now I would like to check if Zabbix is equally good for monitoring service status.

First thing I cannot find in Zabbix are scheduled downtimes - ability to define period for a specific host and/or service (item/trigger) during which alerts (actions) shouldn't be issued. During this period I would expect Zabbix to continue performing checks and fire triggers in order to have accurate availability reports.

This thread indicates that "IT Services" are the solution:

I made a check on the yesterdays nightly build of version 1.5. I defined IT service for a trigger which have associated action. I added a downtime period for the whole day and crashed the service. Zabbix instantly send the message.

Could someone point me to the alternative solution or proper way of defining IT services in order to achieve scheduled downtimes.

    Thanks in advance,
