Hello,
First of all, I am new to Zabbix. I am extremely pleased with the flexibility offered by the triggers/actions system in Zabbix. One key area where I met most of my pain is discovery.
Although discovery works perfectly well, it is the least flexible component of Zabbix, more precisely discovery of SNMP devices. I beleive most users like me have an army of SNMP devices and population information on these devices is a real pain. Although we can easily populate similar information with mass update, specific info must be entered by hand or script.
I think that a simple variable system refering to information polled during discovery would be great. So if we entered $DiscoveredHostIP$:$SNMPVar1$ or something like that in a field, the first OID polled in the discovery of the corresponding device would fill the field. Something like that. I dunno.
Also, it seems that polling OID type values is not supported, this would be awesome if it were, especially for linking templates and so on.
Other than that, I am very impressed with Zabbix so far.
Keep up the excellent work!!
