Ability to link a template to a discovered VM

AFAIK it's currently not possible to link a template to a specific VM after it has been discovered.

We can link a template to the host prototype, but it will apply to all virtual machines. Or we can add new checked items to a VM. But not a template. Not very convenient...

How can i discover all my VMs, then link the Webserver template to webserver VMs, or the OracleDB template to database VMs ?
