Zabbix install Q & A script - would sure help building/configureing a fresh/new Zabbix server. Start with fresh Ubuntu only then run a Zabbix install do-everything script
I have been having lots of difficulty building my first Zabbix ( ver 4.2 ) server.
I've been an ISP network engineer for 19 years now & have worked with all kinds of Unix/Linux systems but I am not a software-database-programs programmer. I have having all kinds of failures following the Zabbix install instructions , close but no bananas.
I have successfully installed the Zabbix appliance several times with no problems. My issue is the ( ver 4.2 ) install instructions are not clear. You almost have to be failure with zabbix to install Zabbix. Myself never having used Zabbix and trying to follow the install instructions has left me a few times with a Zabbix install no-go system. This time I am reading-researching why the Zabbix agent on my Zabbix server is not running.
I really really really would like to see another option to build/configure a new Zabbix server using a script from a new/fresh Linux/Unix system ( Ubuntu in my case ). Where a new/fresh Ubuntu system has no other configurations or packages added yet (aka fresh Ubuntu install). Then have a Zabbix script which asks a few basic questions and then presto , the Zabbix script installs the Zabbix server & agent -and- configures the mysql server and sets makes everything ready to go ( aka --> a turn-key Zabbix install script ).
A Zabbix turn-key install/do-everything/configure-everything would sure help people like me from building multiple Zabbix systems from scratch just to get a fully functional working turn-key running Zabbix system.
FYI - The Zabbix Ubuntu appliance ISP install is almost there - but it could use some Q & A to make a better more-describable Zabbix install. Questions such as disk size partitioning, estimated # of devices to be monitored, IPv4 & IPv6 questions.
Sooo, I home somebody would consider such a Zabbix Q & A install/configure shell script to help people like me get it right the first time.
